The Department of Biotechnology was introduced in the academic year 2003 with main aim to produce qualified and dynamic engineers in the fast growing field of Biotechnology Engineering. The department has started with a full capacity with B. Tech students and with promising research activities in Biotechnology engineering fields. The department comprises of a number of qualified faculties from different disciplines to fulfill the multidisciplinary objective of its various programme.

Biotechnology has emerged as the promising technology of the 21st century. The biotechnology has a tremendous impact in the area of agriculture, environment, medicine, food and other industries. Keeping this in mind, the courses has been designed to train the students in developing expertise in various aspects of biotechnology including Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Plant and Animal cell culture, Protein Engineering, Bioinformartics, Bioprocesses Engineering etc. to take up future challenges and make international impact in these areas.

The current batch has more than 55 students placed in many reputed companies like Infosis, Dabur, Biocom and othgers.
